At Kurdistan Institution for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research a workshop by the name of “ Natural Gas of Kurdistan – A Strategic Step Toward Energy Independence and Electricity Supply” featured a presentation by Dr. Biston Mohammed Qadir, a lecturer in the Department of Oil, Gas, and Energy Management at the University of Charmo. Numerous data and statistics on the level of production and reserves of oil and natural gas in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq were presented.
During the workshop, Dr. Biston clarified the key role of natural gas in advancing energy security, electricity supply, and the economic development of the Kurdistan Region, and in this regard, he stated: Efforts must be made to prioritize the issue of modern energy, as the Kurdistan Region is rich in resources of that energy.
In the second part of the workshop, the roles of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region in the global natural gas sector were discussed.
