Dr. Ahmed Faeq Barqee, a Lecturer and a researcher at the Kurdistan Institution for Strategic Studies and Scientific Research, in collaboration with several local researchers and researchers from the University of Malaya in Malaysia, conducted a new study on the use of angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) in the treatment of colorectal cancer (in title).

Novel Anti-proliferative Application of Telmisartan and Candesartan: Synergistic Repurposing Strategy Against Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer remains a significant global health burden, characterized by high mortality rates and increasing resistance to chemotherapy. Recent studies have shown that angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs), traditionally used to treat hypertension, have anticancer effects by inhibiting the angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1).

The aim of this study is to evaluate the antiproliferative effects of telmisartan and candesartan on colorectal cancer cells and their synergistic effects with chemotherapy, based on time and dose, using these two drugs in conjunction with chemotherapy.
